Abstract

In machining of hardened steel generating maximum heat will result in minimized cutting life of the tool and minimized quality of the metal removed component. The cutting fluid is utilized to act as a lubricant to minimize the higher cutting temperature and resistance in between the interface of the tool-chip and the workpiece of the tool. It guides to alarming caution to the natural environment and health issues due to ti its complex chemical compositions. In the present paper, the influence of the cryogenic lubricant by liquid nitrogen and strong jet on cutting force of pressure, high rough surface finishing and wear of the tool in the end milling of hardened AISI D3 steel which has nonlayered carbide placed inside, experimentally investigated at different cutting speed and feed combinations. The results are being compared with Dry Metal Removing. The result indicates that cryogenic machining provided decreased cutting force, tear and wear of the tool and increased finishing of the surface. It can also be done to the drastic reduction of cutting zone temperature.
