Abstract

For constructions purposes these days the demand of stone has been increased. It creates the problem for limited number of land fill. To solve this problem or to neglect the uses of natural resources and for facilitate environmental and ecology problem we prefer the marble and granite powder for construction purpose. Marble and granite are the industrial waste generated produced from the cutting of stones which provides an economical and durable concrete. In this study the performance of concrete is determined through the percentage variation of marble powder and granite powder with cement and sand. The cement is partially replaced with marble powder in varying percentage 0%, 10%, 20% and 30% and sand is partially or fully replaced by granite powder in varying percentage of 0%, 25%, 50% and 100% respectively. The Compressive and flexural strength tests of cubes and beams were conducted at the age of 7 days and 28 days. The Compressive strength of concrete will increase 17.6% and 14.88% and flexural strength increase 41.1% and 32.2% at 10% marble and 25% granite powder when compared with control mix after 7 and 28 days test. When the percentage of marble and granite powder was increased then the strength was decreased continuously.
