Abstract

Visible light communication (VLC) attracts increasing attention in intelligent transport systems (ITSs) in recent years, since light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are used as common light source. In this paper, the maximum capacity of VLC channel in ITSs with commercially available LEDs and photodiodes is investigated using the carrierless amplitude-phase (CAP) modulation technique. 312.5Mbps CAP transmission is successfully demonstrated over 10m transmission with a vehicle LED that has a 3dB bandwidth of 2.5MHz.
