Abstract

Experimental infections show that dogs and cats are susceptible to Molineus barbatus. These hosts can be infected with the third-stage larvae of this parasite either orally or percutaneously. Stools of experimentally infected animals contained ova on the eighth day after infection. The parasite is very pathogenic in both these hosts. The species of Molineus and their hosts are tabulated and their distribution discussed.
