Abstract

Diagrams continue to play an important role in different areas of computer science. In this paper, we discuss how the cognitive processing of such diagrams can be conceptually understood. To this end, we refer to the CogniDia framework, a recent framework that describes the consecutive phases of cognitive processing. We discuss experimental results for the four categories of the framework. We conclude with an outlook on future research.
