Abstract

Receiver sensitivity degradations due to fiber chromatic dispersion without chromatic dispersion compensation in multigigabit optical continuous-phase frequency-shift-keying (CPFSK) transmission systems are evaluated experimentally and theoretically. Transmission distance limited by the chromatic dispersion of 15 ps/nm/km is estimated to be 130 km at 5 Gb/s and 33 km at 10 Gb/s. >
