Abstract

Several magnetic filter matrices are studied varying the angle between the flow direction and the magnetic field, and employing two different test suspensions. The results support viscous flow particle trajectory calculations and show that the retention of particles on the filter fibers is weakened significantly if the interparticle surface forces are repulsive.
