Abstract

The solution of several problems of high-temperature radiation gas dynamics requires information on the emission and absorption coefficients of a plasma over a wide wavelength range with high spectral resolution. The plasma sources most widely used for the experimental determination of these parameters are stabilized electric arcs [I-4]. In contrast to shock tubes and ultrasonic ballistic setups, as a result of the spatial inhomogeneities of the plasma column they provide simultaneously experimental information on the emission coefficients of the plasma at different temperatures.
