Abstract
In this paper, the experimental determination of the magnetic saturation and hysteresis characteristics of power transformers having a multilimb magnetic core with the wattmeter-voltmeter-amperimeter-voltmeter (WVAV) method is described in detail. An analysis is presented for the experimental curves obtained in terms of the material properties, iron-core dimensions and geometry, winding connections and the WVAV method of measurement used. Potential applications of the determination of experimental saturation and hysteresis curves are on electromagnetic transient studies and harmonic and power quality analysis of power systems.
