Abstract

Experiments were conducted to deternine whether a modified Peng-Robinson equation of state (EOS) correctly predicted concentration shifts in premixed methanol-modified carbon dioxide during cylinder depletion. Calibration plots of super-critical fluid chromatography (SFC) retention tine versus percent methanol modifier were prepared via dynamic mixing of methanol and pure CO 2 . These plots were then used to deternine the concentration of methanol in the premixed cylinder at various stages of drawdown. The concentration of methanol modifier in the SFC grade CO 2 was found to more than double during what would be considered the nornal usage life of the cylinder
