Abstract
The plasmonic enhancement of fl uorescence or scattering involves the same enhancement mechanism [ 1 ] which is governed by the local fi eld enhancements in nanostructures sustaining localized surface plasmon resonances (LSPR). [ 1a , 2 ] It is the localized fi eld enhancement that is responsible for surface-enhanced spectroscopic processes such as shell-isolated nanoparticle enhanced Raman scattering (SHINERS) [ 3 ]
