Abstract

Orientation of crystal planes in nanostructures to a large extent depends on the experimental conditions such as potential applied to the electrodes, pH of the electrolyte. For the synthesis of Cu nanostructures, we used polycarbonate track etched membranes of cylindrical shape with 100 nm as the pore diameter. A variation in the intensity of peaks in the XRD pattern is observed, as any of the above mentioned condition is changed during synthesis. The intensity of a peak in the XRD spectra is the direct reflection of orientation of a Miller plane in the crystal. Texture coefficient indicates that preferred orientation of crystal plane can be manipulated from experimental conditions to modify the material properties as per the requirement.
