Abstract

Due to vehicle mobility and complex radio environment in urban, accurate estimation of packet loss rate(PLR) in vehicular wireless network is a challenge. In this paper, the statistics of PLR via distance are obtained using a large amount of on-road vehicular measurements in Wuhan City, China. By observing the statistical properties of the measured data, we propose a doppler spectrum function to describe the urban three-dimension(3D) vehicle-to-vehicle propagation characterization in vehicular wireless network, and integrate the proposed doppler spectrum function into OMNET++ simulation platform. The link simulation statistics results indicate that the proposed method can achieve more accurate packet loss rate estimations compared to the existing model.
