Abstract
This paper presents the characterization of the dielectric properties (dielectric constant εr and dissipation factor tanδ) of borosilicate glass samples produced from silica obtained from rice husk ash. The measurement setup is based on the resonant cavity method. The glass samples have been fabricated with cubic shapes and doped with two different concentrations of antimony oxide (III) (0.0000 mol% and 0.0500 mol% for samples with edge length h=7.8 mm; 0.0000 mol% and 2.0000 mol% for samples with edge length h=11.0 mm). Potential anisotropy has been investigated by measuring the resonance frequency of the cavity loaded with samples under different orientations. The experimental results validate the isotropic behavior of the glass samples. The values for εr and tanδ obtained experimentally qualify this material for many applications, especially for the development of devices, such as dielectric antennas and cavity-based filters, for wireless communication systems of the 5th generation (5G).
