Abstract
Thin 2024-T3 aluminum alloy panels were subjected to close-in blast loading. Panels of various thicknesses were tested against different blast loadings and approach distances. A finite elemental close-in blast simulation model (LSDYNA ALE method) was first calibrated with the experimental data, and then it was used to predict damage behaviors at different blast loadings and approach distances.
