Abstract

In this paper experimental results of frequency shifts induced by debonding damage in a carbon-fibre reinforced plastic sandwich panel are presented and widely interpreted. The comparison with previously obtained numerical results is satisfactory. Specifically, the possibility of assessing the extension of the debonded area is experimentally verified. The validation of the numerical results also show the possibility of determining the damage location. Finally, very good agreement between numerical and experimental results is shown for the cross-over between the first and the second bending modes.
