Abstract

We demonstrate the use of a computer generated waveguide hologram for optical coupling of an InP waveguide to a single-mode optical fiber. Experiments reveal that the waveguide hologram can be used as a band-pass, optical wavelength filter with possible applications in wavelength division multiplexing. Computer simulations show that further improvement of the filtering characteristics is possible by properly choosing the hologram parameters.
