Abstract

This paper presents a series of field tests to investigate the dynamic behavior of floating single pile and pile groups in multi-layered soil. In addition, an analytical approach is proposed for pile head stiffness under horizontal loading. The effective coefficient of pile group is obtained according to the head stiffness from experiment and theory. The proposed theory is validated by the experimental results with single pile and pile groups. The displacement amplitude and acceleration with frequency are analyzed. In addition, the effects of pile groups configuration on the pile head stiffness, the dynamic interaction factor and the dynamic efficiency coefficient are discussed.
