Abstract

The photoionization and dissociative photoionizations of vinyl chloride have been studied both experimentally and computationally. In experiments, the photoionization efficiency spectra for C 2H 3Cl +, H +, C 2H 2Cl +, C 2H 3 + (two isomers) and Cl +, all from C 2H 3Cl, have been measured from 35 to 600 nm. The energetics of the photoionization processes have been examined by ab initio calculations. The theoretical study has provided insight into the possible isomeric structures for polyatomic fragments near the thresholds.
