Abstract

The NLO properties of grown L-alanine crystal was investigated by Z-scan and hyperpolarizability studies. Reverse saturable absorption (RSA) and saturable absorption (SA) behaviors are noticed under pulsed mode and continuous wavelength (CW) regime respectively. The RSA and SA behavior are attributed to two photon absorption (TPA) and thermal lensing properties respectively. The thermo-optic effects within the crystal due to the continuous illumination of the laser.
