Abstract

Abstract The study of Coulomb excitation in 147Sm has provided improved B(E2) values for six low-lying excited states. The results have been interpreted in the cluster-vibration model as a collective quasi- f 7 2 multiplet with two intruder states. Special attention has been paid to the discussion of the theoretical crossing of the 9 2 1 − and 9 2 2 − states, which leads to a pronounced decrease of the B( E 2; 9 2 1 − → 7 2 1 − ) / B( E 2 ; 9 2 2 − → 7 2 1 − ) ratio at a critical interaction strength. Accordingly, it has been suggested that the 1108 keV state with a large B(E2) value for the transition to the ground state has a 9 2 − spin and parity.
