Abstract

The title compounds undergo rotations around three sterically crowded single N bonds. At ambient temperature the torsion angles between phenyl, naphthyl rings and ethyl group are 80° and methylene protons show general behavior of an AB spin system. At high temperature three main parts of molecule are located in one plane and methylene protons show an A 2 spin system. This situation is reflected in negative entropies of activation.
