Abstract

The performance of BD60 in an HCCI engine coupled an external fuel reforming system was investigated in this work at the reforming temperature from 450 K to 700 K. The experimental works were carried out in a single cylinder engine, and the numerical simulation study was carried out using CHEMKIN package. The composition of reformed products was greatly affected by temperature, and when the reforming temperature was 650 K, the concentration of the reforming products altered abruptly. The addition of reformed products could affect the engine combustion phasing. The concentrations of CO and UHC would be decreased, and biggest drop were 10.36% and 16.93% in this combustion mode, respectively. The variation rule of indicated thermal efficiency first increased and then decreased with the increase of reforming temperature, and the peak value could reach 44%.
