Abstract

AbstractThis paper presents a study on the performance of the behaviour of the grouted sleeve couplers, (GSC) which can be used as a connection aid for the structural members in precast buildings. The study aims to understand the behaviour of a grouted sleeve connection, which has the rebars embedded concentrically and eccentrically, protruded from the structural members. A non-shrink high-strength free-flow cementitious grout is used as the grouting agent. The peak load of failure and the mode of failure of the grouted sleeve connection are considered as the study parameters. The two types of grouted sleeve couplers are tested experimentally and analysed numerically. As an experimental study, uniaxial tension test is conducted on the grouted sleeve to ascertain the study parameters. Regression analysis, using MINITAB 19 software is conducted to validate the results with that of experimental results. Various types of regression analyses are performed considering the peak load as the independent variable and by varying the dependent variable. The results of a few regression analyses are nearer to the experimental results. The mode of failure for all the specimens is a bond failure within the grouted sleeve coupler.KeywordsGrouted sleeve coupler (GSC)Non-shrink high-strength free-flow cementitious groutExperimental studyUniaxial tension testNumerical studyRegression analysis
