Abstract

In this paper we present the results of the experimental and numerical studies of the distribution P(R) of the reflection coecient R and the distributions of the Wigner reaction matrix [26] for microwave networks that correspond to graphs with time reversal symmetry (fl = 1 symmetry class of random matrix theory [38]) in the presence of absorption. Our experimental results are compared with the exact theoretical predictions of Savin et al. [39]. We also present the results of the experimental study of the distribution P(R) of the reflection coecient R for the 3D chaotic microwave cavity in the presence of strong absorption.
