Abstract

The paper primarily focuses on the experimental evaluation and mathematical verification of Cashew Nut Shell Liquid (CSNL) derived biofuel blended with diesel in varying proportions as an alternative to conventional fossil fuel as the working substance in a single cylinder, mechanically loaded four stroke Kirloskar diesel engine. The performance of the biodiesel is evaluated in terms of fuel consumption and brake power and is measured against conventional diesel for quotidian feasibility. The experimental investigation serves as a precedent for the generation of a nonlinear multivariate expression which relates the input and output parameters. Three input parameters and one output parameter are considered. The empirical expression thus derived is adopted to find the curve of best fit. The mathematical model's prediction and the experimental and available theoretical results are perceived to be closely synchronized. Wolfram Mathematica 7 has been used as the programming input to the model.
