Abstract
Mont Wright Mine tailings matrices were subjected to freezing/thawing and wetting/drying cyclic weathering tests before being tested in the unconfined compression chamber. These experimental results were subsequently compared to computational values found using the program Tailings-DEMTM. Results showed that Tailings-DEMTM was capable of simulating, with reasonable accuracy, the UCS strength values of the tailings matrices tested.
