Abstract

Measurements of relative vibrational band transition probabilities for emission from the v′ = 2 and v′ = 3 levels of the A2Σ+ state of OH have been measured using a low pressure flame as the source of the radicals. Observations have been made out to the 3,5 and 2,6 bands. Ratios of these transition probabilities, and those for v′ = 0 and v′ = 1 from previous measurements, have been fit to an electronic transition moment R e (r), by using RKR wavefunctions. The form of the moment is a linear function at short r, matching at larger with a polynomial expression of the same shape as in an ab initio calculation.1 The rotational dependence of the transition probability within each band is also calculated.
