Abstract

The high-temperature solar coatings play a key role in improving the performance of a concentrated solar power receiver. In this paper, extensive tests have been carried out using Scheffler dish to find out the effect of exfoliated graphite solar coating on the absorber. The thermal performance has also been compared with and without exfoliated graphite (EG) coating on the surface of the absorber plate. The system was capable of generating temperature at the focus of the receiver section with EG and without EG within the beam radiation range of 600–941 W/m. It has been found that the Scheffler dish with EG coating on the absorber plate enhances thermal performance in the range of up to 15%. The coating is found thermally stable at 250–420.2 under experimental investigation with high solar absorptivity more than 97% and thermal stability even up to useful for concentrated solar power. The brief fabrication procedure has been discussed to promote entrepreneurship.
