Abstract

The work introduces the experimental test results of a free-float capable tension leg platform in operational conditions. The structure is a self-stable tension leg platform with a 10MW wind turbine. Initially, the model and the experimental facility are described. System identification cases are provided to show the natural frequencies, responses in regular waves, and steady wind. Then an assessment of the operational performance of the model in stochastic wind and wave conditions is made. The response amplitude operators are discussed, linking the values to tendon behaviour. The experiments show favourable dynamics when evaluated against operational criteria presented in class society rules.
