Abstract

The paper gives an assessment of the adequacy and accuracy the energy storage system (ESS) mathematical model. The full-scale experiment was carried out on off-grid power system on May 24, 2019 in Novosibirsk, including a gas engine power plant with capacity of 2250 kW, abruptly variable active load of total 1200 kW and the industrial prototype ESS with a nominal power of 1200 kVA, energy capacity of 400 kW · h and voltage of 10 kV. ESS is based on lithium-ion batteries. Elaborated ESS mathematical model for transient processes calculation is outlined. This model was implemented in the DIgSILENT PowerFactory software. Proceeding from the research objectives it is possible to choose a calculation model for electromechanical or electromagnetic transient processes research. The results of full-scale tests and calculations performed using the ESS mathematical model proved their qualitative and quantitative coincidence sufficient for scientific and engineering studies of ESS operation in electric power industry.
