Abstract

In order to provide a theoretical foundation for designing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)'s human computer interface, this paper studies distinction and effect about situation awareness (SA) of the operators under different workload and different missional times. Thirty male servicemen were randomly assigned to ten teams in this experiment. Based on operating the UAV simulation equipments and answering the questionnaires, the participants' SA was studied. Results demonstrate that the higher the workload is, the lower the scores of SA and subjective rating are. The results also show that scores of SA and subjective SA rating decreasing under the same workload with adding missional times. Therefore, there are two ways to enhance the operators' SA. The first one is to rationally distribute the mutual work of human and computer during designing UAV. The second one is to select the operators and train the operators.
