Abstract

Objective To determine the response time and time resolution correct factor for the first range of both the ion chamber survey meters. Methods A formula based on the circuit theory and the definition of response time was established, and verified with experiment data. Results The response time at the first range(0-50 μSv/h) of the model 451B and the model 451P ion chamber survey meter were 13.2 s and 7.3 s, respectively. Conclusions The time resolution correct coefficients should be used to inspect the radiation protection level by both the ion chamber survey meters. Key words: Response time; Time resolution; Dose rate
