Abstract

IntroductionSocial and personal interpretations attribute dark circles to a sign of physical exhaustion, which highlights its importance in facial appearance. Hyaluronic acid has become a technique of choice to address irregularities at the periorbital level. ObjectiveShow the results of the treatment of dark circles with hyaluronic acid. MethodObservational, descriptive, prospective and longitudinal study in 80 patients who attended the International School of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery (EIMEC), Barcelona, between July of 2015 and July of 2021. Both sexes were included, between 25 and 59 years old, with informed consent. The following were excluded: eyelid rhytidosis, marked flaccidity, history of blepharoplasty or previous fillers, herpes, and false expectations. Those who did not attend follow-up consultations withdrew from the study. ResultsThe mean age was 44.4 years. The female sex prevailed with 81.25% and the white race with 75%. According to Hirmand's classification, type II dark circles were the ones that most occurred at 70%, followed by type I at 21.25% and type III at 8.75%. The amount of hyaluronic acid infiltrated by dark circle was 0.5 cc in 60% of the sample, 0.25 cc in 27.5%, and 0.75 cc in 12.5%. 97.5% did not present complications, only post-covid deformity and marked edema were reported in 1.25% each. 100% satisfied and all the results were good. ConclusionsThe treatment of dark circles with hyaluronic acid offers good results if the ideal product applied by an experienced professional is guaranteed.
