Abstract

For higher education institutions worldwide, it is important to promote accreditation processes for their programs in order to guarantee their academic excellence. Accreditation of postgraduate programs is also fundamental, although it is usually not as widespread as accreditation of undergraduate programs. This article describes the process of the self-evaluation and accreditation process of the master’s degree programs of the School of Computing of the Costa Rica Institute of Technology, in compliance with the standards required by the model of the National Accreditation System of Higher Education of Costa Rica. The experience and results obtained during the self-evaluation and accreditation process described in detail in this paper may be useful for other postgraduate programs in Computer Science and Informatics in Latin America.
