Abstract

PURPOSE: Improving retention and reducing relapse in Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) treatment programs is an urgent public health need. This IRB-approved qualitative study investigated the experiences of pain as described by adults receiving a daily methadone dose to increase understanding of pain management needs in MOUD programs. Methods: A secondary analysis was conducted to investigate pain-related data from adults (N=8) in a MOUD program enrolled in a pilot study testing the effects of hyperbaric oxygen therapy on opioid withdrawal symptoms.
