Abstract
A compact ALOK ultrasonic device combined with flexible small-scale manipulators has been developed to the point where routine tests can be performed on various types of components. The probes are coupled to both the inside and outside surface of pressure-bearing walls. Detailed consideration is given to the essential features of this type of test, e.g. comprehensive data recording and documentation, high degree of fault-proofness and objectivised evaluation of results. In view of the suitability of such modern test systems for day-to-day tasks, close attention is paid to the special question of personnel qualification.
