Abstract
This extension project aims to adjust oral cavity of patients with oral cancer who were or will be treated by radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Students participated in training workshops about oral cancer; after the initial phase there was the realization of seminars and production of material used for field activities, such as lectures, posters, pamphlets, dental records, besides the adjust of oral cavity, or treatment of sequelae in the community assisted in the clinic of dentistry. The community action activities to track potentially cancerous lesions benefited more than 80 patients, 14 permanent treatments were performed in patients with oral cavity cancer, and 2 appointments were performed in home care. We stress the importance of accompanying the patient throughout the treatment of neoplasia, whether surgical, chemotherapy and radiotherapy following preventive measures (guidance on oral hygiene, topical fluoride application, low-level laser therapy) to improve patient’s life quality, preventing appearance of new sequelae.
