Abstract

The OBJECTIVE was to analyze the accumulated experience of interventions using the iliac branch device (IBD) in patients with common iliac artery aneurysm. METHODS AND MATERIALS. The article presents short-term results of surgical interventions in two patients with pathology of the infrarenal aorta and bilateral pathology of the iliac arteries. In both cases, in order to preserve blood flow in one of the internal iliac arteries, IBD was used. The branches of the contralateral internal iliac artery were simultaneous embolized with coils. RESULTS. Technical success was achieved in both interventions. In the postoperative period one of the patients developed high intermittent claudication (from the embolized internal iliac artery), the conservative therapy provided positive effect. Control CT did not reveal endoleaks and thrombosis of the endoprosthesis. CONCLUSION. The use of IBD allows to preserve pelvic blood flow and can be considered as the main method of endovascular treatment in patients with aneurysm of the common iliac artery, especially in the case of bilateral lesions.
