Abstract

1. In difficultly accessible mountain regions of the country rich in water resources of small rivers, energy supply of remote-pasture livestock fanning, hydrological and weather stations, geological field groups, and forestry outposts by means of a microhydrostation of the type THHES-1.5 is quite prospective. 2. The transverse reaction turbine with a simplified technology of manufacturing the runner, induction motor-generator with self-excitation and a flexible hose penstock made in sections are the most simple and reliable in operation. 3. A high quality of the electrical energy is provided by means of an autoballast electronic voltage and frequency regulator (u=u l ±1.8%,f=f l =±0.3%) method of regulation substantially simplifies the design of the unit. 4. The THHES provides a stable energy supply in a wide range of variation of the heads (3–7 m), which makes the problem of selecting the site easier: 5. On mountain rivers with a sharp-peak character of the shower floods, protection of the microhydrostation from damage can be solved either by transferring it to elevations which are not flooded, which requires an increase of expenditures on constructing the penstock, or by permanent installation in the floodplain of the river with allowing it to be submerged and with subsequent drying of the generator, which requires more skilled servicing of the microhydrostation.
