Abstract

The purpose of this study is to reflect on my personal experiences and challenges in the initiation of the local language online degree programme in Jaffna University. These are discussed under the headings of Infrastructure facilities, Development of Courses, communication with students, Tamil fonts in Unicode, Political factors, and Administrative problems. The problems and challenges expected by the Coordinator, SMEs, Reviewers, Administrative staff and Students are analysed to find out the conclusion. Primary and secondary data are used to survey the research and the results are presented as suggestions from the challenges and problems in the local language course. It is concluded that the experiences and challenges lead to pre-planned activities which can solve the problems expected in future.
