Abstract

Thankfully, water utilities in North America don't have to contend with outbreaks of typhoid fever as described in Earl Kirkpatrick's article, but at its core, this piece is really a testament to good customer service. The best have always focused on their customers, but utilities today are doing well if they can live up to the standards set by the Des Moines Water Company a century ago.
