Abstract

The number of legal cases filed in Courts is increasing day by day with an increasing realization of the public at large to resort to the Court as the ultimate means of dispute resolution. In this process, there has been a steady rise in the number of legal cases against Government and its departments as well as its constituents, which have been experiencing difficulty in dealing with the situation and the consequences of it. One of the important factors is the legal case administration delay that occurs at various stages caused by various sources. This paper discusses the reasons for the delays, analyses the process of dealing with legal cases in government departments and, finally, lists down the causes as well as consequences of their dependency. The paper suggests an action plan comprising some major interventions that would transform the current processes of legal case administration so as to expedite the legal case disposal in government departments.
