Abstract

The data related to the expansion of the red deer geographic range to the northeast in Yakutia are given. Since the 20th century, the red deer species has been gradually settling over the territory of Yakutia. It occupied the southern and southwestern regions of Yakutia valleys of the Chara, Tokko, and Olekma Rivers during the first half of the century. Afterwards, it moved to the southern part of Central Yakutia (valleys of the Amga, Buotama, and Aldan rivers). The factors responsible for the changes in the boundaries of the red deer geographic range are analyzed.
