Abstract

At the present stage, there is a growing number of original works for bandura of various styles and genres, which complement the repertoire of Ukrainian performers of academic and innovative direction. The emergence of new techniques, performance capabilities of the instrument encourages determining the place of the bandura in the modern environment. The purpose of the work is to study bandura art at the turn of the XX – beginning of the XXI century as a new stage of instrument development. In the process of evolutionary formation, the bandura acquired new qualities and is interpreted as a concert solo instrument. With the advent of new compositions, her performing abilities have increased, expanding and modernizing the bandura repertoire in academic and innovative areas. Thus, R. Hrynkiv offers new techniques due to the string damping system developed by him, and the innovative methods of the game invented by G. Matviyiv bring a fresh look at the style as a whole. Those works take the bandura to another level. All this arouses interest in the study of this topic, encourages identifying current trends in the development of bandura art and determines the relevance of the work. Research methods. The work uses general scientific methods – deductive and inductive, analytical when referring to individual works of R. Hrynkiv and G. Matviiv, the method of genre-style approach. Results and practical significance. Possibility to use for study and analysis of modern works. The work can be useful for performers when considering the latest techniques of the game, the trends of original music for the bandura. An element of the scientific novelty of the proposed article can be considered a description of the works of modern composers-performers R. Hrynkiv and G. Matviiv, rich in neo-folk and jazz style, the discovery of new directions and views on bandura performance. Conclusions. The article reveals new possibilities of the bandura (new timbre quality, specific accentuation, lado-tonal and metro-rhythmic features) in the works of R. Hrynkiv and G. Matviiv, which prove its universality.
