Abstract
Two novel expanded furan-containing helicene derivatives 6a and 12a have been conveniently synthesized and fully characterized. Compared with the precursors 5 and 11, the cyclized molecules 6a and 12a exhibit red-shifted absorption and emission. The former 6a can form radical cations in the presence one-electron oxidant AgSbF6 but the latter 12a cannot be oxidized. Besides, compounds 6a, 12a and their precursors 5, 11 presents promising photoswitching responses.
