Abstract
In this paper we study the existence of counter-rotating vortex pairs with different scales and different distributions for the Euler equations. We construct a family of traveling asymmetric vortex pairs using the variational method. The quasi-geostrophic shallow water equations and the generalized surface quasi-geostrophic equations are also discussed in a similar framework.
