Abstract

Reonentations of methyl groups in solids are symmetry restricted. Consequently long-lived spin symmetry species and reorientations coexist even at high temperatures. This is a refinement of the usual reorientation model. The possibility of creating an angular momentum imbalance between symmetry species is shown. The possibility of observing exponential relaxation is discussed.
