Abstract
In this paper, we establish an existence theorem for the BPS vortex equations, which arise in the effective theory of a brane‐antibrane system in string theory. Our main strategy is as follows: First, the problem is reduced in a nonlinear elliptic equation over , and for which a subsolution and supersolution pair is obtained by weighted Sobolev space techniques and a variational argument, then the existence of a bounded solution is proved by a monotone iteration method. Moreover, the asymptotic behavior of the solution is analyzed, and the solution for original BPS equations can be recovered.
