Abstract

The results of experimental investigations of the multiple static hysteresis of the aerodynamic characteristics of a rectangular high-aspect-ratio wing are presented. Schematic wing-flow structure patterns, time dependences of the coefficients cy(t), mz(t), and mx(t) and their frequency spectra obtained for a fixed model are given for different boundaries of the hysteresis domain. The time dependences of aerodynamic forces and moments are analyzed at angles of incidence at which sharp changes are observed. It is shown that the static hysteresis can be described by a mathematical model used in catastrophe theory.
